Identifies organization-wide risk reduction opportunities and implements strategies to reduce preventable errors in healthcare delivery. Manages the investigation of all events that may possibly result in the potential for litigation. Provides consultation to managers, employees, and physicians regarding consent issues and release of records to identify risks and provide corrective action. Consults with general counsel on legal problems, guardianship issues, and advisement of significant risk issues. Manages the daily operation of the risk and claims management programs, and supervision of staff. Establishes system to manage and investigate all claim activity. Investigates and manages claims and develops processes and procedures to manage all defense counsel activities. Manages all property and business interruption claims, losses, general liability, professional liability and all necessary insurance programs to protect the organization. Coordinates the Captive Insurance Program. Assesses operations, new programs, and contracts to ensure maximum insurance coverage for all possible exposures through appropriate policies. Three to five years previous risk and insurance management experience preferably in an acute care or healthcare settnig. Bachelor's degree required/ Master's and ASHRM cert preferred. |
